Officers responded to Newman and Sussex streets at 9:30 p.m. on reports of shots fired, Hackensack Police Capt. Michael Antista said.
No victims or witnesses were found upon arrival, and further investigation turned up a found shell casing, confirming that a shooting occurred.
The Detective Bureau is conducting an investigation and no further information was available.
